Simon’s Hook, written by Karen Burnett, is a story about teases and put- downs. A boy named Simon gets a rather funny haircut from his sister after her gum gets found in his hair. Simon puts his baseball cap on and runs to play with his friends hoping no one would notice but when his cap falls off the other kids laugh and tease him. He runs home upset, but meets his grandmother on his way and she tells him a story about how to be a free fish.
If you are still biting hooks that are thrown your way listen to the recording for a review of the five ways to be a free fish. Simon’s Hook
Question: Tell about a time when a hook came your way and you did not bite.
